About Us

Welcome to Flat Face Insurance. If you are here, you probably know the sound: the snorting, the snoring, the heavy breathing that makes Pugs, Frenchies, and Bulldogs so unique.

To the world, they are “cute.” To us, they are family.

But to insurance companies? They are High Risk.

We exist for one reason: To stop flat-faced dog owners from getting their claims denied.

The Problem: “Generic” Advice Fails Specific Breeds

Most pet insurance comparison sites treat a French Bulldog exactly the same as a Golden Retriever. They recommend policies based on price, not protection.

But a Golden Retriever doesn’t need a $5,000 nose surgery (BOAS) to breathe. A Golden Retriever doesn’t overheat in 25°C weather.

When you buy a “Standard” policy for a “Specialized” breed, you are walking into a trap. We’ve seen it happen too many times:

  • The “Pre-Existing” Trap: Claims denied because a puppy snored once in a vet check-up.
  • The “Bilateral” Trap: Knee surgery denied on the right leg because the left leg had a wobble years ago.
  • The “Heat” Trap: Emergency care denied because the insurer labeled heatstroke as “preventable negligence.”

Our Mission: We Read the Fine Print So You Don’t Have To

At Flat Face Insurance, we don’t just look at the monthly premium price. We download the Sample Policy Documents (the 50-page PDFs nobody reads) and we hunt for the exclusions that kill claims for Brachycephalic breeds.

We Grade Policies On:

  1. BOAS Coverage: Does it cover soft palate and nares surgery? Is there a waiting period?
  2. Heat Stroke Terms: Is it covered specifically for flat-faced breeds?
  3. Bilateral Exclusions: How strict are they about knees and hips?
  4. Hereditary Conditions: Are genetic issues covered from day one?

Who We Are

We are a team of dog lovers, researchers, and consumer advocates who realized that the pet insurance industry is broken for the breeds we love most.

We are not insurance agents. We are translators. We translate confusing legal jargon into simple “Yes” or “No” answers so you can make the best decision for your best friend.

“Owning a flat-faced dog is a commitment of love. Finding insurance that respects that commitment shouldn’t be a mystery.”

Meet the Founder: Narendra Abhishek

Hi, I’m Narendra Abhishek, the founder of Flat Face Insurance.

I started this website after a harsh realization: Loving a flat-faced dog is easy, but protecting them is hard.

A while back, I watched a close friend go through a nightmare. His Frenchie needed urgent surgery to help him breathe (BOAS). It wasn’t cosmetic—it was life-saving. He had insurance, so he thought he was safe.

He was wrong.

The insurance company denied the $4,500 claim. Their reason? They argued that because the dog “snored” as a puppy, the condition was “pre-existing.” They used the very trait that makes these dogs cute—their flat faces—against him.

I realized then that the insurance industry is designed to confuse pet owners. They hide behind 50-page policy documents and complex medical terms like “Bilateral Exclusions” and “Congenital Limits.”

I decided to build the resource I wish my friend had.

I am not an insurance agent. I don’t work for these companies. I work for you and your dog. My goal with FlatFaceInsurance.com is simple: to read the boring fine print so you don’t have to, and to help you find a policy that actually pays out when it matters most.

Because when your dog is struggling to breathe or suffering from heatstroke, the last thing you should be worrying about is a “Denied” stamp on an invoice.

Here’s to the snorters, the wheezers, and the stubborn little clowns we call family.

Our Editorial Standards (Why Trust Us?)

To maintain the highest level of integrity and Google E-E-A-T standards, we adhere to these rules:

  • Unbiased Reviews: If a popular insurance company has a terrible clause for Frenchies, we will tell you. We don’t hide the truth to make a commission.
  • Fact-Checked Medical Info: Our content regarding health conditions (like BOAS or IVDD) is based on veterinary standards and current medical data, not rumors.
  • Transparency: We are reader-supported. If you click a link and buy a policy, we may earn a referral fee, but this never influences our grading system. A bad policy is a bad policy, period.
